Understanding Anxiety

Listening to the message in Anxiety.

The reason I encourage my clients to be curious about their emotions rests in the message that the body or behaviour is trying to communicate.

If we explore the message trapped in our anxiety, this could be a sign of distress but it may also be a message that we are in the process of healing our distress. For example, being overwhelmed and unable to cope is a sign of distress. Whereas weeping as part of a grieving process is healing anxiety. The latter is the mind and body attempting to sync with the reality of change. If you feel distressed, you should seek help from a trained professional and begin the journey towards healing.

Understanding our emotions preempts a future distress response and allows the mind and body to acknowledge that this is a stressful time and that the feelings being experienced are valid. Trust the process!
