Understanding Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder is often talked about through the lens of intense emotions, difficult relationships and fear of abandonment.
But behind these descriptions is often a person who experiences connection very deeply and whose emotional system can become overwhelmed when they feel rejected, disconnected or unsure of where they stand with someone they care about.

What may look like anger, withdrawal or an extreme reaction can sometimes be an attempt to manage a much more vulnerable feeling underneath, such as “If I lose you, I lose myself”.
