Frequently asked questions about therapy.

The first session is your chance to talk through your concerns, ask questions, and outline what you would like to achieve. We will explore whether therapy, coaching or a blend is more helpful, and create a plan together

Each session is 50 minutes. Some people prefer weekly sessions, others every two weeks. Frequency depends on your goals, availability, and what feels sustainable. However, for the first 4 sessions it is recommended that we meet weekly so that we get to know each other and ensure there is a good fit between us.

The relationship between the therapist and client is very important. If you don’t feel comfortable it is important to share your concerns. If needed, I can help you find another professional who may be a better fit.

There is no one-size fits all answer. Some people feel the benefits after 6 – 12 sessions while others prefer longer term support. We review progress regularly and adjust as needed.

Yes. Everything you share is treated with the highest confidentiality, within professional and ethical guidelines. The only exceptions are if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others or if required by law.

Therapy focuses on understanding and healing from difficulties in the past and present to facilitate insightful change. Coaching is more future focused with skills and goals to facilitate strategic change. Often the two overlap and we will discuss this in our first session.

If you are struggling with emotional distress or mental health concerns therapy may be the right place to start. If you are looking for clarity, motivation or strategies to move forward in work or life, coaching might fit. Many people benefit from an integrated approach which we can discuss in our first session.

The rate of a 50 minute Individual session is R1220.00, payable after each session. You/we can submit the invoice to your medical aid so that they can reimburse you.

Couples therapy: R1400.00
