Coaching and Leadership Development

coaching and professional development

Psychologically informed coaching for personal growth.

Sometimes in life and work when we need more than a new strategy. We need space to think clearly, understand ourselves more deeply, and recognise what may be holding us back.

Coaching gives you space to step back from the demands of everyday life, explore the challenges you face, and make more intentional choices about how you want to live and work.

As a certified coach and registered psychologist with more than 20 years of previous corporate experience, I bring an understanding of both human behaviour and the complexities of professional life to my coaching. My approach combines psychological insight with practical reflection to help individuals and leaders navigate change, develop self-awareness, strengthen resilience, and move forward with greater clarity and purpose.

Who Is Coaching for?

Coaching may be helpful when you are functioning well in many areas of your life but sense that something needs to change.

You may be navigating a demanding role, facing an important decision, questioning familiar patterns, or trying to find a more sustainable way of working and living.

Coaching creates a dedicated space to think, reflect, and develop new perspectives.
It may be particularly relevant if you are:
  • Navigating change: Adjusting to a new role, career transition, changing responsibilities or an unfamiliar phase of life.
  • Seeking greater clarity: Making difficult decisions, reconsidering priorities or working out what you want your next chapter to look like.
  • Developing as a leader: Exploring your leadership style, strengthening communication and understanding the impact you have on others.
  • Building resilience: Developing a more sustainable relationship with pressure, uncertainty and responsibility.
  • Understanding recurring patterns: Recognising how established beliefs, assumptions and interpersonal habits influence your choices.
  • Reconnecting with purpose: Finding greater alignment between your values, professional ambitions and personal life.
Coaching is not about becoming someone else. It is about developing a deeper understanding of yourself and making choices that are more consistent with who you want to be.

My Coaching Focus

Leadership, Self-Awareness & Emotional Intelligence
Effective leadership involves more than technical competence. It also requires an understanding of yourself, your relationships and the effect your behaviour has on others.

Coaching provides an opportunity to explore how you respond to pressure, navigate difficult conversations, manage competing demands and make decisions. The aim is to develop leadership that is thoughtful, grounded and responsive to the people and situations you encounter.

Resilience & Navigating Change

Change can challenge our sense of certainty, identity and control. Even positive transitions can bring unexpected emotional and psychological demands. Rather than viewing resilience as simply the ability to endure more, my approach considers how we understand and respond to uncertainty, recognise our limits, and develop the internal resources needed to adapt. The focus is not on eliminating uncertainty, but on developing greater clarity and flexibility in how you respond to it.

Courage, Clarity & Personal Growth

Sometimes the most difficult decisions are not about knowing what to do, but about understanding what makes it difficult to act.
Our beliefs about ourselves, our responsibilities and the expectations of others can influence the choices we make, often without our fully recognising it. Coaching offers space to examine these influences and consider new possibilities.

Courage does not mean being free of fear or uncertainty. It can mean learning to act thoughtfully despite them.

My Coaching Approach

My approach to coaching is grounded in an understanding of human behaviour, emotional processes, relationships and the patterns that shape how we respond to the world.

As a trained psychologist, I bring a psychological perspective to questions of leadership, personal development and change.

This means looking beyond immediate behaviours to consider the beliefs, assumptions, emotional responses and interpersonal patterns that may influence them.

Our work is collaborative and tailored to your circumstances. It combines reflection and psychological insight with practical questions, clearly defined goals and considered action.

Depending on your needs, coaching may involve:

  • Developing greater self-awareness.

  • Exploring perspectives and assumptions.

  • Identifying strengths and resources.

  • Understanding interpersonal dynamics.

  • Clarifying goals and priorities.

  • Identifying practical steps and reviewing progress.

The intention is to help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself and your circumstances, so that you can make more informed and purposeful choices.

Coaching or Therapy?

Both coaching and psychotherapy can involve reflection, self-awareness, and personal development. However, they serve different purposes.

Coaching generally focuses on development, decision-making, leadership, transitions, and goals for the future. It offers a structured opportunity to explore your current circumstances and identify ways forward.

Psychotherapy provides a therapeutic space to explore emotional distress, psychological difficulties, relationships, and patterns of experience that may be affecting your well-being and functioning.

There can be areas of overlap, particularly when questions about work, identity, and relationships are closely connected to emotional well-being.

During our initial appointment, if your needs indicate that psychological assessment or treatment would be more appropriate than coaching, we will discuss this and find an appropriate way forward. My priority is to ensure that the nature of our work is appropriate to your needs, with clear professional boundaries and an agreed framework for how we proceed.
